Building a firm foundation for future generations
March 2010
We are very happy to tell you that with much excitement here in Mozambique on Monday 8th March 2010, we laid the foundations for our New Promise Centre. A dream and vision that began in my heart many years ago was finally becoming a reality.
Thanks TO ALL who support us and have journeyed this far, we believe the best is yet to come!! As you know the team in Mozambique has grown and without everyone and YOU who faithfully support us we could not have come this far.
On Sunday the 7th the day before, some of the team went to site to pray God’s blessings over the site and lay God’s written word, on tiles in the foundations. Last year we received Isaiah 61 as a Promise to stand on for the ministry and more importantly for the children of the
Promise Centre. We believe that all who come to the new Promise Centre will be blessed abundantly and we proclaim and believe this for generations to come. Read more
Celebrating Christmas @ Santa Barbara Restaurant - Invited as the Guest of Honor
December 2009
The moment we received this unexpected invitation from people we didn’t even know we felt special, and had no idea just what a wonderful day it would be.
30 children plus staff and some friends went for a day packed full of fun.
After swimming in the pool, jumping on the bouncy castle, we all worked up a healthy appetite and sat down to a wonderful feast. Sweets, cool drinks, chips, and yummy beef burgers and a bun and we experienced pulling crackers some for the 1st time.
At the end of the day for the icing on the cake, we got to take a very big box of Christmas presents home to share, that had kindly been donated by other families that had come to the party. Click here for the full story...
Celebrating Christmas at the new centre
December 2009
On the Saturday evening 12th December just a week after moving into the new Promise Centre we celebrated with a party. We came together to give thanks as a family, for the year and for finding a new Centre to call home. More children and friends from the community also joined us for the fun.
There were a grand total of 75 people and we all sat down together to a wonderful feast cooked by the educators.
Thanks to all our partners who make these special occasions possible, that’s what its all about Celebrating Life together. Read more
Finding a new place to call home for the children of the Promise Centre
December 2009
After 5 years our land lady of the house we rented for the Promise Centre asked us to move on, as she wanted to move back in her house. Finally after searching long and hard for over a year, we found the perfect house that would serve all our needs as a big family.
We asked many of you to pray for this and sent out an e-mail stating all the requirements we needed. Not only did the new house we found meet all the requirements, it even has a swimming pool too! Thanks to all those who sent encouraging words and prayed for God to supply a house. God is faithful.
GREAT BIG THANKS to a sponsorship we received to cover the extra rent. Click here to read more and view all the lovely photos!

Helping hands program - Launched
September 2009
The Helping Hands program is launched!!!!!
Everyone needs a helping hand in LIFE. We need 30 hands around each child. Each hand represents a day of the month. The way we see it is each helping hand around the child represents a hand of LOVE reaching out, demonstrating God's Love at work through YOU.
You can connect with a child in need through the Helping Hands program and make a difference in a child's life. Click Children / Helping hands to read more about the program or to view new updated profiles of our children.
New Volunteers in Mozambique
November 2009 - Stefan, Almarie and Christiaan Ehlers
Our first objective is to focus on learning to speak Portuguese. Our primary task will be to oversee the day to day functioning of the centre as well as to make sure that these children get the best possible attention and treatment. We have to co-ordinate parties each month for the children who have their birthdays. We have to manage the finances of the centre and the continual development and improvement of the facilities. Almarie would love to focus on helping the young children (those who are not in school yet) to develop certain skills so they would be ready for school. Stefan would like to walk a road with the older boys by facilitating discipleship and leadership development activities as well as counseling and restoration of the identity of these boys.
It will be a place where we not only give of ourselves but it will be a place where we can die to our own desires and grow into God’s desires – and that is a good place to be.

Birthday Bash
September 2009
One of my big goals since I came to the Centre was to have birthday parties every month for the children who celebrate their birthday in that month. The last one I gave was in February 2009 just two weeks before I went to South Africa for my daughter Hadása’ss birth! Nothing can prepare you to be a mom, so for the past 7 months I became a MOTHER and had no time or energy for a party, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't in my heart.
When September came, I felt that I am able to give a party again... Click to read more about this exciting event!
LCF Ladies visit Mozambique
September 2009
During September 2009 I had the privilege to visit the Promises Centre in Mozambique with Leandra Olivier and a group of friends as part of an outreach. Early the Friday morning we excitedly got into Christa’s Kombi and our adventure trip began…
The Mozambique weekend was a life changing experience in more than one way for me. It opened my eyes and my heart to allow God to work in my life and to see and experience all his blessings and strength and love.
I came back with a sense of being deeply touched, feeling the need to live a more grateful life, to become calmer and to start making a difference. To quote Katy: “You cannot change the world but you can change the world for one person.” Click here to read two testimonials of this life changing weekend
Extravagant Love - Children's Day
1st June 2009
As I think of each of our five children and ponder in my heart their individuality and uniqueness of their personalities and character’s and really take time to see the goodness in each one of them, and see who they really are, as a parent I find myself overwhelmed with a deep love for each one of them and, as this deep love surrounds and fills my heart, there is a great sense of joy and happiness I receive, and smiles fill my face and I get this overwhelming urge to love them extravagantly in every way I Can for the rest of their lives.
At the Promise Centre most of our beautiful kids in our care, big and small, will never get to receive, this extravagant love that a parent longs to give their child. They may never feel the touch of extravagant devotion as the parent, just gazes into their child’s eyes and caresses their very soul, with unspoken words saying time and time again, "I Love you".

School Holidays
July 2009
Kids and teenagers at home all day long on school holidays for any household can be a challenge for the parents even when you only have two or three kids to keep busy.
Well as you know were not the average family and we have rather a lot of kids and teenagers to keep busy and keep out of mischief over the holidays. So we always try to have some activities planned.
We had a wonderful week together and would like to share with you all the fun things we did together, we also invited many kids that we care for in the community to join in the fun. We had lots of activities, from a day @ the beach, football, games, ice-cream @KFC to taking care of our environment and clearing up rubbish in the road in front of the centre. Transition House - "The House of Blessings"
April 2009
In April 2009 we opened up our first transition house, this is now accommodating 4 young men and one missionary who overseas them.
As the children grow up at the Promise centre and become young adults are aim is to see them grow further still, and gradually make the "transition" into adult life, learning and developing as many life skills as possible in order for them to finally leave and graduate on.
Our hope is they will be equipped both practically and emotionally, ready to become interdependent members of the community, in order to confidentially start living their own lives and peruse their life dreams, thus enabling them to contribute to their own community and
society in general.
We encourage and help each individual to set life goals, incorporating a plan and vision for their own future.
Mama Katy creating smiles
12 March 2009
For nine years, missionary worker Katy Muller has been helping to bring bright smiles and laughter to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged children. Katy has always held the urge to help people less fortunate than herself.
After training as a nurse and doing social care work, she decided she wanted to travel, and through the church went to Romania to volunteer at an orphanage. The experience opened her eyes to the human suffering that sadly goes on in the world and she decided to devote her
life to helping others. "I just realised there were people out there who were vulnerable, and who had not had the opportunities that I had in life. "I decided I’d had so many good things happen in my life it was time to give something give back."
After working in Brazil, Katy now runs her own charitable children’s project called the Promise Centre, in the small village of Maputo in Mozambique. Download Article, Click here.
